Grauer Park is not so much of a park as it is a hub for the community. It is home to an eclectic array of services and amenities including the South Delta Recreation Centre, Kiwanis Longhouse, the outdoor lacrosse box and, perhaps most popular with the youth in the area, the Tsawwassen Skate Park.
If you’re looking for a pick-up game of basketball, or want to join a volleyball league, you’ll find everything you need at the open gymnasium. Many family and kids’ programs are run out of the facility, including preschool programs and dance classes, zumba or drawing classes. If you love to ice skate, there’s a rink with rentals and a concession stand. You can also try your hand in the curling rink, hosted by the Tunnel Town Curling Club (open September through March).
For the artist in you, the Rec Centre houses the South Delta Potters Guild which offers both membership and classes for beginners or experienced potters. You’ll also find inspiring art displays, drop-in lessons, demonstrations and workshops at the South Delta Artists’ Guild, which operates out of The Kiwanis Longhouse, which is also on the property.
The outdoor skate park features a combination of stair sets, ledges, handrails, down rails, flat bars and ledges, manny pads, pyramids, mellow banks and down ledges of various sizes. If you’re big on skating, the Tsawwassen skate park won’t disappoint. But no matter what you’re into, you’re welcomed to park yourself at Grauer Park.
