Delta's Got Talent auditions for the Tsawwassen Sun Festival

Jun 15, 2017

Are you a Delta resident between the ages of 13 and 19 with a passion for singing, dancing, playing an instrument or otherwise being creative and artistic? Or do you know somebody who fits that description?

You could have a chance to show the world your great talents by entering into the inaugural 2017 Delta's Got Talent competition to take place Aug. 6 and 7 at the Tsawwassen Sun Festival in Winskill Park!

The event is being organized by Sun Festival committee member Jennifer Bach, who says she's always had a passion for the arts and music.

"I had some health problems when I was of school age, so music was one of my lifelines," says Jennifer. "I grew up with a musical family and over the years I've taken voice and instrument lessons. I was in band from the first year that they offered it in grade 5 and kept at it right through grade 12. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone who is thinking about an instrument vocal or dance to go for it!"

It can be somewhat intimidating to get up on a stage and perform in front of people and Jennifer says it takes courage to put yourself in the spotlight.

"But no matter what, everybody's got some talent. And whether it's as a onlooker or a participant it enriches all our lives. Whether you are dancing to it, singing it, or your talents is in using an instrument, please join us this summer for Delta's Got Talent and showcase yours."

Contestants must live in Delta and be between 13 and 19 years of age on the date of the live event. Accepted performances are vocal (musical or acapella solo or group), instrument, dance, solo artists or duets. Other talents will be accepted on a case by case basis.

You can audition by sending a YouTube link to Jennifer at deltasgottalent@gmail.com by June 28. Or drop off a USB or CD to the Tsawwassen Arts Centre (1172 56th Street). Please limit auditions to less than three minutes.

The top 25 contestants will be chosen by a panel of judges and all entrants will receive an email of the results. The Semi Finals will take place Sunday, Aug. 6 at 1 p.m. at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre, while the Finale will take place on the Main Stage at the Tsawwassen Sun Festival in Winskill Park on Monday, Aug. 7. Age groups will be separated into 13-15 and 16-19 year olds.
